After graduating from Edinburgh University with an Honours in History, I worked in a strip theatre in Soho, London, since when it's been downhill all the way. Brief spells as an agricultural labourer, stand-up comedian, copywriter, PR consultant, gallery director and fish porter led me inevitably into advertising, where at Faulds, Weiden & Kennedy, 1576, Mother and The Union campaigns I produced won numerous awards, including a BTA Gold, an Epica Prix d'Or and several D&AD silvers for clients including Coca Cola, The BBC and Prada.
I've been writing, directing and producing since 1985 when I wrote 'Mud & Guts', a documentary for Channel 4, but most of my work as a director has been either advertising (campaigns for VisitScotland, Seychelles Tourist Board, BBC and others) and non-broadcast.
